Obituary for John Ellwood Cook

COOK, John Ellwood “Jack”, Retiree General Motors, WWII Veteran, Royal Hamilton Light Infantry – Peacefully on Friday November 23, 2012 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa in his 89th year. Jack, beloved husband of Jean Cook (nee Holland). Much loved father of Allan Cook and his wife Clara, Sharon and her husband Dennis Coker, John Cook and his wife Jeanie, Robert Cook and his wife Pat, Michael Cook and his wife Sandra, and Sandra Cook. Predeceased by son Peter Cook (1978). Fondly remembered by twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Dear brother of June Hurst (Bill). Dear son of the late Ellwood and Mable (nee Trott) Cook. Jack loved to play and coached hockey and baseball for many years in the Pewee and Old Timers divisions. He is a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Moose Lodge and Canadian Corps. He was also very active with the CAW Local 222. Jack was an adherent of St. Stephen’s United Church. Friends may call at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Sunday November 25th from 6-9pm. Funeral service in the chapel of the funeral home on Monday November 26th at 11am. Cremation. Memorial Donations to the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
