SLEMKO, Michael - It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our Tato and Dido, Michael, who left us peacefully, with family by his side, at Providence Healthcare Toronto, on Wednesday November 15, 2017 in his 92nd year. Many thanks to Dr. Brodie and Dr Caplan and the wonderful nursing staff in both the community and the hospital.

Michael was born on March 25, 1926, in Beleluja (Ivano-Frankivsk oblast), Ukraine. Predeceased (2008) by his beloved wife, Eva (Kordupel) of 62 years. Dear Father of John (Joanne) and Marika (Scott). Cherished Dido of Stephanie, Alexa, Taylor and Shaun. Predeceased by his brother Mykola, and sisters Hafiya, Veselyna and Paraska in Ukraine. He will be truly missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends in Ukraine and Canada. Michael was a dedicated General Motors employee for over 30 years. He served as a member and secretary at the local Dnipro Hall. He especially enjoyed chess, playing a high level game, once even winning over a Grandmaster.

‘Mykhajlo’ and Eva enjoyed their retirement years at the family cottage on Crystal Lake where they spent wonderful times with their children, grandchildren and many friends. ‘Vichnaya Pamyat' (Eternal Memory)

Visitation to be held at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Sunday November 19th from 2 – 4 and from 7 – 9 pm. Panachyda/prayers Sunday at 7:30 pm. Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial on Monday November 20th at 11 am at St. George the Great Martyr Ukrainian Catholic Church (Lviv and Albert). Interment St. Wolodymyr and St. Olha Cemetery. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers to the St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church would be appreciated by the family and may be made, along with condolences by visiting www.armstrongfuneralhome.net
