Obituary for Casey Kotwa

It is with heartful sorrow that we advise of the passing of Casey Kotwa on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Quinte Health Care (Picton) in his 91st year. He was predeceased by his wife Olga (1996). Casey was much loved by his partner, Patricia Smith, sons Rick (Bonnie), Gary (Jean) and Terry (Brenda). He dearly loved his 7 grandchildren, Kareen, Breanne (Chris), Krista (Jenn), Taylor, Robert, Jonathon, Alexandra and 3 great grandchildren, Eden, Reed and Sloane. Casey is survived by his sister Julie Doherty, sister in law Edie Kotva, numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his sister Annie Slawski, brothers John, Stan and Walter Kotva.

Casey was a proud 35 year Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) veteran, retiring in 1987 with the rank of Superintendent. His postings were at Longlac, Kakabeka Falls, Port Arthur (Thunder Bay), Oak Ridges, Madoc, Belleville and General Headquarters (Toronto).

He embraced and loved his Polish heritage and was adept at speaking, reading and writing Polish. He was known on occasion to sing Polish songs. Casey loved his family dearly. He was an avid Blue Jays fan.

At Casey's request there will no be visitation or funeral service. A private family interment of cremated remains will occur at a later date. Donations in memory of Casey may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
