With heartfelt sorrow the family of Anna Etere announces her passing on November 11, 2020 at the age of 93.
Anna passed away peacefully at Hillsdale Nursing Home in Oshawa in the company of her family after a lengthy illness with dementia.
Anna was born in the beautiful town of Ravello on the Amalfi Coast of Italy. It was love at first sight when she met Michael (predeceased 2008) in Italy during the war and later after the war came to England where they married in 1947. In 1982, with her husband, she came to join part of her family in Canada and made Canada her home.
Hardworking, compassionate and sweet Anna was dedicated to the sick and elderly at St. Mary of the People in Oshawa for many years and was loved by all her friends at the church.
Anna will be dearly missed by her daughters Rosemarie Halliday of Canada and Tina Fraignuex (son-in-law David) of Australia along with her grandchildren Marina (Matt) of Australia, Simon (Dina) of Canada, Michele (Roy) of Australia and Mark (Lucy) of Canada. Great-Grandchildren Jessica, Samantha, Joshua, Matthew, Sarah, Ryan, Riley, Jamie, and Nanny Nanny to Nicholas, Julianna and Anthony.
Great Great Grandchildren Alfie Benjamin, Ava Rose, Elsie Isobel Anna (born the same day as Anna’s passing), and all extended relatives in England and Italy.
Anna, beloved Mum to your daughters and family you will be in our hearts forever and may you rest in peace that you so deserve.
Heartfelt thanks to all of the love and care that Hillsdale Nursing Home has shown our mother over the years, you went above and beyond.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial Mass on Thursday November 26th at 11am at St. Mary of the People Church (Stevenson Road south of Rossland) with interment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society. Online condolences may be left at www.armstrongfh.ca
