Bertie was a good friend. We shared many happy times when he taught in Trenton. When we met yearly in Courtice and in our many emails we often joked about our Christmas carolling and snowmobiling and friendly school soccer games. He was always a respected and loved teacher. Rest In Peace my friend.

It is with a heavy, heavy heart that I am writing these words for my dearly departed last uncle and friend, Bertie - "the Dove". We were very close, even before he migrated to Canada.
I recall the many trips he made back to Trinidad when we had many happy limes, visiting the beaches and rivers with his brother, "Paka", and Clyde. Recently it was Gregory and Sally who took him around and he always had his camera bag. Every time he returned he must come to my home to have some local food. He and Pam always exchanged local recipes.
On one of his visits, we sat down going through some old pictures of our families. He even took some old ones to have them restored and put in his computer. He was always proud of his Cocorite Road and Melodians.
He was very happy to learn that his grandchildren had spent time at my home with my grand and his wish was they always keep in touch.
When we visited Canada, he took us around. I will always remember the road trip to Prince Edward Island and the thunderstorm in Antigonish. We also made trips to Niagara Falls.
He will be sadly missed by all of us back home in Trinidad and I know his neighbour, Bill, will miss him alot. He always spoke of you on his visits here Bill - how good and helpful you were.
Rest in Peace, my friend and I know you are at peace in Jesus arms.
Carlie, Pam, Sherry-Ann & the grand-kids

Reminiscing.. Uncle Bertie had always been a very special member of our family.. his vivacious personality & profound wisdom were admirable ... Visiting Trinidad, he savored the sights sounds and tastes at his favourite places. His love for literature was reflected in his cards, letters and messages.
We celebrate his life and are thankful for the precious memories.
Blessed peace be with you... 'Safe in the arms of Jesus...'
