Obituary for David James Povinsky

With heartfelt sorrow, the family of David James Povinsky announces his passing on March 2, 2021, to his next great adventure.
Forever held in the hearts of his beloved wife and travelling companion, Marcey, and his adored children, Jeremy, Sara (Andrew), Ryann (Shawn), and Robin (Cory). Proud Papa of Zackary, Britton, Trever and Justin Poulin.
Dear son of the late Sally and Peter Povinsky and the late Eugene Strader.
Devoted brother to Darlene Doner (Randal) and to his cherished brother the late Dane Peter Povinsky. Proud uncle of Rachel Turrin (Adrien), Miranda (Calvin), and Luke (Kathryn), and precious grand-nephew, Henry.
Brother-in-law to Wilson Sousa (Lorraine), and Philip Sousa (Vicky), and light-hearted uncle to Justine White (Eric).
Devoted nephew of Toni Davies, and friend to numerous cousins here and afar: Dick (Carol), Dean (Abigail); June (Patrick), Jocelyn (Matt), Cort (Kristen), Tom (Garry); Bill, Sam (Brittany), Eric (Kortney), Haley (David), Sandra and Ernest, and the late Roger Caprice.
A special thank you to Dave’s bird friends, Margaret and Paul Dinis.
Dave's passion for golf was matched only by his love for family, the Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. He will be deeply missed by his buds Karl, Bev, Len, Mike, Harold, Dave, Jim, John, and all the boys at Kedron.
Always remembered by friends Warren, Christopher and Dagmar.
A respected 40 year employee of General Motors, Dave leaves behind a legacy of friends around the world.
Dave loved life. He gave without measure, laughed without restraint, and loved without judgment. With Dave, our world was a softer place. Hasta la Pizza! That's all she wrote!
Kindest regards and thank you to Laurie, Jenn and all of Jeremy’s special friends at Holt Road.
A thank you to Dave's doctors and nurses throughout the years and a special thank you to Jennifer in Emerg and Marnie on the second floor of Lakeridge Bowmanville for their compassionate care.
If desired, donations in Dave’s honour may be made to Hearth Place, Oshawa; Community Living Oshawa/Clarington, or a charity close to your heart.
A celebration of Dave’s Life will be held at a future date.
We encourage you to share any “Povinsky-isms” that you may have heard from Dave in the memory wall; such as “If you see someone without a smile – give them yours” or “I get up when sleep is finished”.
