It is with great sorrow and regret we announce the passing of our Mother ‘Elsie May Jenkins’ on Dec. 14, 2022 at Winchester Glen Retirement Community.

Mom was predeceased by her husband John(Jack), by her parents Hilda and Thomas Etches, her brother Ron (Jeanette) and her sisters Lillian (John deceased) and Joan (Bud).

She is survived by her brothers Rick (Fay deceased), Don, Tom (Sandy), Wayne (Mary), her sister Gloria (Archie), her 8 children John (Jack) (Janet deceased), Ron (Bonnie), Mike (Lori), Debbie (Jack), David (Fran), Tammy (Larry), Chris (Michelle) and Carol (Chris), her 14 grand children Mathew (Michelle), Amy (Glenn), Luke (Monica), Ashley (Lucas), Rob, Kyle, Lynda (Paul), Josh (Mariah), David (Courtney), Sarah (Richard), Jeffery (Lori), Brad (Corina), Curtis, Blaine (Cecilia) and her 26 great grand children ….. Rocky, Olivia, Mia, Maddox, Madison, Carter, Alexis, Ryker, Brooke, Rylee, James, Lucas, Dakota, Kennedy, Jeremy, Colton, Lily, Cassandra, Tegan, Makayla, Jack, Finn, Etney, Ashlynn, Easton, Ellis,…. And Mom’s very close friendship with Keith and Lynda Jones and their children Adam, Neil, Ashley and Matt.

A special thanks to all of the staff at Winchester Glen who were so wonderful to Mom. Also, thank you to Durham region EMS staff, Oshawa, Bowmanville and Port Perry hospitals, Dr. Woods, Dr. Dionne, Dr. Li and Dr. Ho.

Mom was an amazing Mother and person. She navigated life’s challenges with dignity, she was incredibly generous and touched so many lives in her working career, her church work, her work in politics and her neighbours.

Visitation will be held on Saturday December 17th from 5pm to 8pm followed by a Celebration of Elsie’s Life on Sunday December 18th from 12pm to 3pm.

Donations in memory of Mom can be made to Harmony Road Baptist Church.
