An Amazing and Beautiful Lady

My dearest Zia Emma, There are no words to express how very sad we are now that you have left us to be with Uncle Armando and all the dear family members and friends who have gone before you. You enriched our lives in so many ways. In Sora, Italy, you were always there for me helping to take care of my sister and brother. Your love, kindness, warm smile and bright shining beautiful eyes always told us how much you loved us all. You loved to sew clothes for Marina and Silvana as they were your shining stars. Family was everything to you. Your love for Uncle Armando was always so strong that sometimes I felt the warmth even from a distance. You were someone who my mother, Speranza, talked with and respected...you not only sister-in-laws but friends as well. The family journey to Canada started in the early 1950s when Zio Petro and Zia Caterina wrote offering to be sponsors to Canada for my Dad, Joseph or Uncle Armando. As my mother was with child, the decision was made that Uncle Armando would make the journey. His family arrived in 1953. After, my Dad came and so the wheel began for our family members to come to Canada, the land of opportunity! It took great courage and pioneer spirit for all of you to leave where you were born, Sora, Italy, to make better lives for your families. Canada was a country unknown to Uncle Armando, you and everyone who arrived later. From the language, customs, weather, food and so much more, all these challenges were faced with great love for each other and the family. With Gods help you all were successful in gaining a better life for all of us. We are stronger for all the love and examples left for us to follow. They say that actions speak louder than words and this was demonstrated to us over and over again, during your lives. We have been blessed to have you in our lives. You will be missed so much. We know you are safe and free from pain in the arms of our Lord. Uncle Armando is so happy that you are together again. We will never forget you or any family member gone before you to their resting place. We will keep you all alive in our hearts for true love has no boundaries. Also, we will keep you all alive by sharing with our children, grandchildren and future generations, the families pioneer spirit, adventures, great strength of character and much more all done for the love of family. Knowing where they come from will help them to follow your examples and give them courage to face their journeys. Today, our hearts are heavy for we have lost a great and beautiful lady. Rest in peace, Zia, we love you and will never forget you.
