It is with great sadness, and loss for those left behind, but much happiness for those already gone, we announce the passing of Harry Edwin Burkitt. Born: June 23, 1926 Died: June 27, 2017. Harry was predeceased by his first wife Dolores “Nernie” Ina (nee: Price) Burkitt and dearly missed by wife Dorothy Joan (nee: DeMille) Burkitt. He will be sorely missed by daughter Debbie Chadwick and son William and his wife Melody Burkitt. Dear and proud poppa of the late Christopher Wm. Chadwick, Tracey Lynn Chadwick and Jason (Alvina) Chadwick. Great grand poppa of Katrina Boustead and Aurora Schaffner Chadwick. Loving step father of Ken (Sue) DeMille, the late David (Heather) DeMille, Terry (Jean) DeMille and Karey (Wilf) Bauch. Step grandfather of Melissa (Kevin) and Danielle (Jake) Bauch, Scott (Pam) DeMille, Liisa (Jim) Black, Jillian DeMille, Jason DeMille and Dana Barry. Harry will also be missed by many step great grandchildren. Harry is survived by his sister Muriel Minaker and predeceased by his parents William and Edith Burkitt. Harry will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Dad worked at GM for over 39 years and was a member of Local 222 Unifor. He was an Active Life Member for 66yrs at Royal Canadian Legion Br. 43 and a past member of the Oshawa Curling Club. At this time we cannot express the gratitude and excellent loving care that was given to Dad by the staff and volunteers at Hillsdale Manor Estates, Willow Way. Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME Oshawa for visitation on Thursday June 29th from 2pm - 4pm & 7pm - 9pm. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday June 30th at 11am. Memorial donations are appreciated to the Parkinson’s Society, R.S. McLaughlin Cancer Centre, or the Alzheimer’s Society.
