Obituary for Janice Ivy Williams

Williams, Janice Ivy

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that Janice (Hathaway) Williams announces the passing of her amazing mother, Janice Ivy Williams on December 6, 2023. She was born September 7, 1932 in London, England.

She passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa with her daughter by her side.

My mother, Janice, was the most amazing, energetic and adventurous woman I have ever met. She was my best friend, and constant supporter and will forever be in my heart.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, Ron (Ronald Edgar Clifford) Williams on June 8, 1994.

She is survived by her daughter, Janice (Hathaway) Williams; granddaughter, Sarah-Jane Hathaway and grandson Oliver Hathaway.

Janice is survived by her sister Paulette Hughes of Rochford, England, as well as many nieces and nephews including great and great great nephews and nieces, all in England.

Janice had started her work career young in England as a reporter for the Essex Chronicle, and with that she met some fascinating and very interesting people while covering stories at a young age. Janice met her beloved Ron and ended up marrying in Uganda in 1953, where they spent many happy years until moving back to England and later in 1966, to Canada.

In her working career, Janice worked as a school secretary and later for Avon Canada as a Sales Manager. Leading her to their circle of Excellence in sales and awards and trips.

My mother enjoyed many accomplishments from being a member of the Independent Order of The Empire (IODE), Toastmistress, Red Hatter, Bowmanville Hospital volunteer, and Board Member for the Clarington Older Adults (Beech Street). Most of all, her passion for Oil Painting using her many photos from trips as her inspiration. She sold at Buckhorn as well as local community art shows in Pickering.

In following my mothers wishes, a private cremation has already occurred and a private family celebration of her life will occur at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a charitable donation in honour /memory of Janice Ivy Williams, she would have loved the Humane Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Covenant House or whichever is your personal favourite charity. Online condolences may be shared at www.armstrongfh.ca
