Obituary

On March 29, 2020, her 87th birthday, our beautiful Jean passed away. Her 7 children: Patricia, Laura, Maureen, Beth, Stephen, Mary and Christine, along with their spouses, are thankful her passing was peaceful. Jean was adored by her 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Born in Toronto, Jean was the third child of William and Elsie Hibberd. Her brother Bill Hibberd and sister Barbara Douglas predeceased her; her other siblings David Hibberd (Mary), Mary Boland (Chuck) and Neil Hibberd mourn her passing but are thankful that she is at peace.

As a young woman, Jean chose nursing as a career; so appropriate, as she spent her life selflessly taking care of people. In 1957, she married George Mill, and they settled in Scarborough, Ontario. There they welcomed 7 children. George passed away in 1986.

Having raised most of her family, Jean, always up for an adventure, moved to Bobcaygeon, Ontario with Christine, her youngest. She went on to establish an incredible circle of friends. Her years in Bobcaygeon were some of her happiest; her altruistic nature shone. She actively took part in community organizations, and was involved in many clubs and committees.

Jean was a gentle, loving and humble woman; the backbone of her family. They thank her for all of her wisdom and unconditional love; they can't imagine life without her, and will forever treasure her.

I was so sorry to hear of Jean's passing. I always looked forward to chatting with her on my weekly visits to Cedarcroft with my St. John Ambulance therapy dog Ziva. She was so lovely and friendly. So sorry for your loss. Lots of love, Stephanie Gray.

A lovely afternoon with Jean and my Mom at Cedarcroft. This butterfly kept landing on Jean we felt it was telling us what a wonderful heart she had.

My condolences on the passing of Jean. I was her cleaner at Cedar Croft and I loved seeing her smiling face and talking with her. She was a good friend to my grandma Dorothea when she lived at Cedar Croft before she was moved to LTC. I am so sadden by this news but will always remember her and how lovely and kind she was. Miss you dear Jean and I loved you dearly!

We all have such amazing memories of our sweet, loving and generous Auntie Jean. I posted a photo in a picture frame that my Mom had in her room for many years....the Hibberd sisters are all together and the inscription on the frame is FAMILY....Life’s greatest blessing..... Auntie Jean and Uncle George have a big beautiful family and growing up we all loved it when our families were together....summer picnics, skating parties, Wonderland Homes and many showers and holiday parties. Even though there were many nieces and nephews, Auntie Jean had a gift of always making each of us feel special. I was always so thankful that my Mom had such wonderful sisters and brothers and Auntie Jean consistently provided gentle love , encouragement and friendship to my Mom when she needed it most. We will all miss our sweet Auntie Jean and we would like to express out deepest condolences to all her children and their partners and to the many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sending you all lots of love and prayers at this very sad time. Love, Barb and Tim and family.
