I learned today, of John’s passing. I never knew him but knew he was the beloved father of Shelley and grandfather to Tamara. Today I met Diane and she let me know that today would have marked their 60th wedding anniversary. I heard many stories today of John and shared a lot of laughs with Shelley and Diane. My warm and sincere condolences to each one of his family and friends. The pictures reflect a life of adventure, friendships and a tight knit family. May God bless you as you remember John.

Diane , Shelley, Mark, Sheri, Tamara and all other family members and friends. My heart is saddened by the passing of John.
I met Shelley in the late 1980's (I think) a Christian computer chat room. From there, we became good friends. I have had the privilege of staying twice at the home of John and Diane, once on an individual trip and then with my whole family. I remember John as being kind and welcoming. I enjoyed the video.
Shelley and Tamara came to our home in Florida and we had a great time. Diane and a CA friend came down on a group tour bus.
While they were took the two ladies to St. Augustine. We ate in an Irish Pub and visited an art gallery. We had a lot of fun.
I tell you this because I've had few face-to-face interactions, but I treasure the family.
Know that the God who loves John, loves you very much too. The Holy Spirit is with you to provide comfort and hope. Cling and cry out to God. As a family, we long for the day when Our Lord will come and restore our relationships.
Our sincere prayers are with you all. Jocelyn Abernathy and family
