Obituary

Mercer, John -
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Mercer, born March 20, 1956, son of Nola (Lahey) Mercer and the late Max Mercer. John passed away October 31, 2020 at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa, Ontario.
John is survived by his mother Nola, brother Gerard, who lived with him, brother Jim, sister-in-law Tania Robinson and nephews Kieran and Tristan of Ottawa, Ontario.
John had a very strong family spirit that was enjoyed by all and cousins Carol, Colleen and Clifford were always more sisters and brother to John and his family.
John was loved by all, especially his caretakers, who never failed to care for him and John loved their caring and devotion to him.
John lived at Harmony King Co-Op for 27 years, was a member of Oshawa Community Living, and volunteered with Cedarcroft Retirement Home for 10 years. He was also a parishioner of St. Gertrude’s Church. Memorial donations to the Autism Society of Ontario would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to extend my condolences to Nola, Jim and family and Gerard. I was very sad to see that John had passed. I will always remember him as a great guy who always asked how things were going with me. He was always a pleasure to talk to. Although I hadn't seen him in quite some time, I'm sure he hadn't changed a bit and was still the same old John. Please know that my Mom also sends her regards and her wishes that John rest in peace.

Hello Nola and Gerrard:

I came along Johns notice of his passing today. John was a lovely man, who I appreciated his volunteering at Cedarcroft. Through the years since John retired from Cedarcroft Place I thought of him often, and enjoyed running into him or Gerrald at the Freshco. Nola you were and are an inspiritaion to me as mother who provided your sons with the necessary support so that they both could live full, and productive lives.

Rest well Johnny!

To the Mercer Family,

From afar I think of you today and everyday with love. Knowing John was a blessing. Being a part of his life was an honour, he was the most kind, loving and gentle man I had ever cared for. He will be missed beyond words. For as long as there is a memory, John will live forever in my heart.

Rest now sweet John, Love Dianne (Diana)
