Obituary for Lorna Ruth Hicks (Bond)
Passed away at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Toronto on Sunday July 28, 2019, at the age of 78. Loving mother of Kathy Hintgen (John), Cheryl Rupert (Don), Lisa Hicks (Janice Stouffer) and predeceased by her son Stephen David Bond and daughter Wendi Lee Hicks. Cherished Nana of Amanda Wannamaker, Angela Wannamaker, Justin Hicks, Jakob Rupert, Matthew Rupert (Allie Quinn), Jackson Hicks, Greyson Hicks, Wesley Hicks and great grandchildren Tyler, Brooke, Brody, Nicholas, Breckin, Gage and Carter. Survived by her siblings Sylvia Dauphinee, Sonny (Ormond) Bond and Helen Robarts (Curt).
Lorna was born in Rawdon Gold Mines, Nova Scotia making her way to Ontario and settling in Oshawa for most of her life. She loved working as an xray technologist at the Oshawa Clinic where she garnered over 40 years of service. She loved all people, especially children who brought out her playful silliness and youthful spirit. Her East Coast gift of gab filled silences and brought comfort to all around her. She was hardworking, strong, fearless yet gentle, kind and loving woman. She will be missed dearly.
Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Wednesday July 31st from 3-6 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Feed The Children would be appreciated.
