Obituary for Lydia Ida DeMille (Eckstein)
Lydia Ida DeMille (nee Eckstein)
April 23, 1932 – February 6, 2022
Peacefully passed in her 90th year, leaving behind her extended family across Canada. Lydia was a first generation Canadian, one of ten children born in Saskatchewan to William and Rosella. Lydia was predeceased by her first husband George Micklewright and second husband George DeMille. Surviving family are brothers Al Eckstein of St. Catharines and Reynold Eckstein in B.C. and sisters Mary Ask in B.C. and Hilda Townsend and Elaine Tomniuk in Alberta, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank cousin Rose Kehler for her extra care and attention given to Lydia. Lydia was known as a great cook and a championed mall-walker having accomplished a distance equivalent to California and back.
A Private Family Service will take place at Armstrong Funeral Home, Oshawa with interment at Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be left at www.armstrongfh.ca
