Obituary for Margaret "Midge" Jelliman

Jelliman, Margaret “Midge”

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Margaret “Midge” Jelliman surrounded by loved ones on March 15, 2023, at 106 years young. Margaret is predeceased by Daniel Jelliman, loving and devoted husband of 59 years. Cherished mother of Diana Scahill (predeceased by son-in-law Geoff Scahill), John Jelliman and daughter-in-law Shirley Jelliman. She was adored by her six grandchildren (and their spouses) and her four precious great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her dear sister Eileen, and was a beloved Aunt of many nieces and nephews and numerous extended family (predeceased and living).

During her extensive life span over two centuries, Margaret called three different continents home, with Canada being her last and most permanent. However, all things British were still very dear to her heart, especially her Yorkshire tea and Galaxy chocolate. Margaret will always be remembered for her great generosity, her thoughtfulness towards others, her caring spirit, and her loving, inclusive nature. She touched everyone that met her in some way or another. Margaret's strong faith sustained her throughout many challenges, especially in her later years. Margaret is at last at peace with God and many family members and friends, who had predeceased her. The family is grateful to Fairview Lodge for the great care and love they showed her during the last two years of her life, especially the staff of Whitby Junction.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Gertrude’s Roman Catholic Church on Thursday March 23rd at 11am. Memorial donations can be made to Chalice Canada or St. Gertrude’s Renovation Fund.

Even though we know you were tired, you inspired us with your strong will, sharp mind and desire to keep living life to its fullest, right until the end. Enjoy your well-earned rest. We will always love you and will miss you greatly.
