On Monday, March 6 th , 2023, at Thornton View LTC., Maria Rechanicz
peacefully passed away in her 87 th year.
Maria was born in Rybne, Ukraine on January 20 ,1937.
Beloved wife of 49 years to the late Michael.
Loving mother of Eugenia Wilson (the late Tim), Jaroslawa Salomone
(Vittorio), Bob Rechanicz (Wendy), John Rechanicz (Connie)
Cherished grandmother of Jennifer (Troy), Travis (Jennifer), Sonia
(Steve), Lisa (Bryan), Catherine (Sean), Christine, Colin, and Jacob
Adored great grandmother of Chelsea, Tyler, Victoria, Violet, Noah and
Charlotte.
Loving Aunt to Ihor Hrytskiv (Natalie), Tolek Hrytskiv. Great Aunt to
Solomiya Gritskiv (Jordan).
Maria is survived by her brother John Minko.
Maria loved to cook traditional Ukrainian dishes for her family, and
enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her loved ones.
She embroidered beautiful vyshyvanky, loved fishing (having won
several fishing derbies) and spent much of her time travelling.
Maria will always be remembered for her unwavering love, kindness,
and sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by cousins, nephews
and nieces and all who knew her.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at
Thornton View LTC. for the professional and compassionate care, they
have provided to Maria through the years and especially in her final
days.
Friends are welcome at Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East,
Oshawa on Sunday March 12 th from 3pm to 6pm. Panachyda in the
chapel at 5:30pm.
Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. George the Great Martyr
Ukrainian Catholic Church on Monday March 13 th at 11am.
Interment to follow at St. Wolodymyr & St. Olha Cemetery, Courtice.
