Peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, at the age of 89.
Beloved wife of the late John Steffen (1997). Loving mother of Robert, David, and Alan. Predeceased by her parents George & Mildred Read and her sisters Shirley Campbell (Don) and Audrey Francis (Peter). Fondly remembered by her cousins Doug & Alice Campbell, Carole & Mike Smith, the late Joanne & Ken Dutka, and John & Lois Francis.
Marilyn was a high school teacher in Toronto and Oshawa (OCVI) before settling down and raising a family. She was a very supportive spouse to her husband John who along with brother-in-law Peter Francis opened Eastview Pharmacy in 1964. It was in the family until 2014 (50 years).
She was a longtime member of the Oshawa Lawn Bowling Club since 1984. She was an Ontario Champion with son Alan in 1994.
She was an extremely gracious and kind hearted woman who always selflessly put the needs of others before her own.
Visitation will be held on Thursday April 25th from 11am to 1pm at Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa.
A Private Family Service will take place with interment at Mount Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be shared at www.armstrongfh.ca
