Obituary for Mary Kaplan (Bezuch)

Kaplan, Mary

Passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at ThorntonView Long Term Care, at the age of 93.

Mary was born in Ukraine and at the age of 13 was taken from her home by the Germans during WWII. They placed her at the working camp Foltswagon Warka (KAF) and remained there until after the war. Mary met her future husband Michael, in the placement camp where they married. Mary and Michael, with their son Peter, left for Canada and landed by ship in Halifax on Oct. 5 1949. They applied to a farm in Uxbridge where they worked for a year before moving to Oshawa. Mary had various waitress jobs and then landed a job at the tannery. Mary loved to help in the kitchen at Dnipro Hall and also loved gardening. After her husband passed away, Mary went to ThorntonView Long Term Care where she enjoyed helping out and socializing.

She has left behind her sons Peter (Joanne) and John (Sandi) and daughter Helen (Wayne). Cherished Baba of Christopher (Kim), Stephanie (Ken), Gordon (Terri), Bryan (Linda), Matthew (Katie), Nicholas (Rebecca) and Allyssa (Mark) and Great-Baba of Logan, Ryann, Jonah, Colson, Simon, Danyka, Kallen, Corey, Shawn, Julia and Zoey.
