Lyon, Maurice Edward
Peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Glen Hill Terrace, Whitby, at the age of 93.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Evelyen (2005) and his grandson Bradley (1997).
Loving father of Garry (Kery-Ann), Jayne Hill (Ian), and Sally Noordman (Paul). Devoted grandfather of April (Joey), Byron (Kim), Corey, Bob (Lee-Andrea), Tammy, and Jessica (Andrew) and great-grandfather of Kyle, Kaitlyn, Jackson, Blake, Easton, and Nash. Maurice loved all his grandchildren & great-grandchildren and kept up with all their interests and activities right until the end.
Dear brother of Bill, Harry (Marg), Shirley, Jack (Barb), and Linda (Doug) and brother-in-law of Lynn, Marion, Eva (Gus), Carol, and Ruby. Predeceased by siblings Barb (George), Don (Betty), Phil, and Ken and brothers-in-law Brian, Bob, and Howard.
Maurice retired from General Motors after 46.5 dedicated years. He continued to spend time with his retired colleagues, playing pool at the Union Hall.
Maurice loved to play baseball and was an excellent pitcher. He was an avid baseball and hockey fan and loved hunting and fishing in his earlier years.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 12 – 2 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home (124 King St. E., Oshawa). A Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 2 p.m. Interment Thornton Cemetery.
