Obituary for Meaghan Jessica Addante (MacRury)

Meaghan Jessica Addante (nee MacRury)

“There are moments which mark your life. Moments when you realize nothing will ever be the same and time is divided into two parts, before this and after this.”

On July 10, 2021, surrounded by her loving husband and parents at Toronto General Hospital, Meaghan lost her life-long battle with Cystic Fibrosis at the young age of 28 years. Meaghan was the definition of a CF Warrior until the end and never gave up fighting; the disease simply became too big.

Heartbroken, Meaghan leaves behind her loving husband Adam and fur-son, golden retriever, Brodie. An insurmountable loss for her parents, Susan and Rob Walmsley. Sister to stepbrother Blake (Felicia). Loved so much by her Nan, Lena Griffin and the late Tom, Grandmother La-Verne Walmsley and the late Bob. Treasured niece to the best uncle and aunt, Gerry and April Griffin. Daughter-in-law to Nancy Moore and the late Joe Addante, sister-in-law to Melanie Crosato and loving Aunt to Sophie, Leo, and Niko. Meaghan will be dearly missed by her large extended family, friends, and the many people whose lives were touched by her.
Meaghan shared her personal story of pain and struggle with Cystic Fibrosis to inspire others and to raise awareness and money in the hopes that CF would one day stand for Cure Found. Although Meaghan suffered with Cystic Fibrosis, she never used it as an excuse to give anything less than 150% in anything she did. A wonderful role model and ambassador for Cystic Fibrosis, Meaghan made you want to be a better person. Meaghan leaves behind a legacy of bravery, courage, and love.

Goodbye hurts so much as her story was not finished, there was so much more to write.

We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at MSICU, Toronto General Hospital, for their outstanding care. Every effort was made to save Meaghan’s life and we are so thankful for the team’s never give up attitude…it matched Meaghan’s attitude to a tee. Our thanks also to the doctors and nurses at St. Mike’s hospital who saved Meaghan’s life in December 2013, as well as the on-going care given to her over the many years she attended the Adult CF Clinic.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday, July 18, 2021 from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home (124 King St. E., Oshawa).
