Obituary for Muriel Sandra Jeffery

Jeffery, Muriel

Suddenly called home to be with The Lord, on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024 at the age of 81.

Beloved wife of the late John Wayne Jeffery (2011) for 48 years. Loved mother of Scott (Pam), Sharon Charlton (Jim) and Paula Gulick (Grant). Loving grandmother of Eric (Nicole), Lucas (Montana), Alex (Mariana), Garrison (Kristen), Nicholas, Cole (Cheyenne), Gavin and Avery. Adored great grandmother of Charlee, Henry, Oliver, Scottie, Maverick, Emma, Paisley and Brinley. Predeceased by her sisters Ruth and Elizabeth. Muriel will lovingly be remembered by her family and friends at home, and in the Maritimes.

Muriel and Wayne were the founders of Jeffery Homes. She continued to develop communities within the Durham Region along with her family. Muriel was a tireless community supporter — some of these groups include Durham Hospice, Hearth Place, The Refuge, Teen Challenge Canada, and Pregnancy Help. She also supported many Christian ministries and missionary endeavours worldwide. Muriel was an incredibly kind, thoughtful, active, independent and intentional person. Her calendar was always full and she enjoyed balancing her family time with her adventures in travel, skiing, golf, entertaining at the cottage, motorcycle group, friendships, bowling league and volunteering at Lakeridge Health, to name a few.

Muriel was a devoted and active member of Calvary Baptist Church and was instrumental in the expansion and building committee of the existing church building. She enjoyed participating in Bible study groups, leading Sunday School, and served as head of the nursery department for many years, as well as being an integral supporter of the church and the members.

Visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on Monday April 22nd from 1pm to 4pm & 6pm to 9pm.
A Celebration of Muriel’s Life and Faith will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on Tuesday April 23rd at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting one of Muriel’s favourite charities; The Refuge or Teen Challenge Canada.
