We had the pleasure of having Vernon as a client at Storage Mart in Leaside for several years. Vernon was always a breath of fresh air. He was always smiling, and had a gentle, yet mischievous way about him, and all of the staff loved dealing with him. We were all so upset when we received the news of his passing from his sister Sharon.

Our heartfelt condolences to all of his family and friends on the passing of such a gentle soul.

Rest in peace Vernon.

To my brother Gene, love Eva Mae Harrington:

How does a family say good-bye?
Do we hug or do we cry?
Do we speak of days gone by
Or do we share a wistful sigh?
A gentle soul has gone his way
And for his journey this we say
'May the Angels guide your way
And may you see a better day'
There will now be peaceful sleep
For the Lord your soul will keep
Sleep well, and do not weep
Rewards of Heaven you will reap
Good-bye to our baby brother
We know there'll never be another
Like the man we called
Our brother

We were very sad to learn of Gene's passing on July 29th. Both Gene and Ed were very good neighbours, so we will always keep the good memories of their time living on Glenvale Blvd. In his better days, Gene was always sharing his home made pies he would bake for some of us neighbours. In his better days, Gene loved to go for walks in the neighbourhood and if he felt the neighbours should know about 'a newsworthy situation' he would let us know. These last few years have not been the same since Ed's passing and Gene trying to find his way to move on. We take comfort knowing Gene is no longer in pain and is now reunited with Ed. May they both Rest in Peace. Our sincere sympathies go out to his family at this sad time, and as each day goes by, be able to hold on to the good memories you have of Gene.

Our family had the pleasure of being Gene’s neighbour since we moved into our home in 2008. He was a calm, kind, friendly neighbour who liked being outside to run errands and go for walks and bike rides. He took very good care of his yard, and grew vegetables such as tomatoes and rhubarb. He would often make wonderful pies for us to enjoy, and was alway kind to toss back our children’s errant pucks and balls when they found their way into his backyard. He loved nature, and was always looking our for birds, cats, dogs and even rabbits when they made their way through our backyards. He was always super excited on halloween night seeing ours and the neighbour hood children drop by for trick or treat in their costumes. Our family will miss him. May he rest in peace.

With love,

Joe, Christine, Emily, Lucas, Jason and Sam.

Gene was a special friend to me. We both lived on Glenvale Blvd in Toronto. We both shared a love of the neighbourhood dogs and the community. Gene was a talented artist with penmanship and drawings. I was lucky to receive beautiful handmade cards in the mail once he moved off our street. He loved being called the Phantom as he would pop up places. I will treasure our phone chats, friendship and nice memories for years to come. My husband and I send our deep condolences to his family and our Labrador Stewie who Gene adored. I am so sorry that I cannot attend his Celebration of Life, I will be there in spirit.
