Zoya was a "one of a kind" woman. We saw her many times and spoke to her when she visited with her daughter, Fortunately for us, Lucy is our neighbour. It was always a joy to see her on those visits; smiling, happy, active and supportive of her family, I remember one occasion especially; she adored her grandchildren that was obvious; Larisa was late coming home from school
and she had a skating lesson, Zoya stood at the railing on the porch looking down the street for about 25 minutes; the look of relief on her face was obvious when she appeared. Her kind, loving and gentle nature was evident for all to see. Zoya will be part of my memory treasures. I am honoured to have crossed paths with such a gracious and beautiful spirit. Peace be upon you.
With fondness and love, Irene and Matthew Sanderson.

Dear Lucy,
I was so saddened to hear that your mother, Zoya passed away. She was an amazing lady and it was a privilege to have known her.
I know you will miss her deeply. My mother, Zina, recalls that she and Zoya shared the same birthplace in Russia. They became friends through the church community and attended many New Years parties, weddings and anniversaries together. I fondly remember the laughter, accordion music and singing to "Those were the days my friend" in my parents basement many years ago.
Thinking of you and your family as you celebrate your mothers remarkable life, with heartfelt sympathy,
Vera and Rob Vanderlaan and Zina Iwanczuk

Lucy, so sad to hear of your mothers passing...I will always remember as kids, her calling you in for dinner “Ludmilla” from the side door, speaking only other English, and running out to the car with you in thunder storms because your house got hit by lightning so many times...I am sure you are grateful you visited that last time, and know that she is with loved ones and doing are a wonderful daughter that did more than most people would do, to make their mother content that she had a caring person like you who cared so deeply for her throughout her life...”Never Forgotten, be seeing you soon again...Ba ma pee gee”. .love you, be well.
