Old Family Friend.

Michael's family and mine were friends from our time in Lintwhite Hostel, Bridge of Weir, Scotland and Moss Road, Bridge of Weir.  His mother, Mrs. Attwell, was a good friend of my mother, and his sister, Pat too.  They were very kind to me when my mother died and Pat phoned from Scotland to tell me my father had died.  I stayed with them when I flew back to deal with his affairs.

Michael was five years older than I am, but we both attended the same high school, Paisley Grammar, although he graduated before I even started there.  He came to Canada before I did, but I saw him a couple of times afterwards, and also saw Pat when she visited.

It was with sorrow that I read of his death.  The last time I had any contact with him he was still living in Etobicoke.  Had I known of his passing, I would have tried to attend a funeral, had there been one.

Lintwhite Hostel was a D.P. camp and I wondered why his family were there, when I read he was born in England.  My family were refugees from World War II and that is why we landed up in Scotland.

I kept in touch with Pat for many years but she developed Macular Degeneration and I haven't heard from her for ages.  If any of Michael's family would like to contact me, they can do so through my e-mail address.  I would like to know how she, and her son, Timothy, are faring nowadays.

My condolences - I am probably the oldest friend left in Canada, as our families have known each other since about 1947!

Sincerely, (Mrs.) Vera E.M. Keogh (nee Howe)
