I met Elunia when she came for the first time to Poland.                                                                                   Mainly thanks to her I came to Canada later on.

Those who know the family know how much time we spent together.                                                              The whole family was than very close, that is Elizabeth’s parents, her brother Zbyszek with his wife Anne and their son Michael and daughter Cindy.Those were happy days.

The life doesn’t spare anyone though.

After her father Jan passed away, it was a big shock for all family when suddenly her brother Zbyszek died. Not too long after her mother Zofia passed away.

The biggest loss for her was when in 2013 her husband Staszek passed away after a long sickness. It seems she never fully accepted this.                                                                                                                    I know that because every time we met she talked about him.

She was devoted mother of Linda, Anne, Mark with Heather and so happy when became Babcia after Oliver, son of Mark and Heather was born.

The last time we talked was not even two weeks ago. We were going to meet again and even chose already the day.

One day before we supposed to meet Liz phoned to call off the visit because she injured her leg.

Just last weekend I was going to call her to ask how she was feeling when I’ve got the call from Elunia’s daughter Ania, that her mother passed away. When I heard this, I was in shock; I was not ready for that. How can anyone be ready?

She will remain in my heart and I’m sure in the hearts of all of us as a very warm, caring mother, always ready to help everyone, with smile even after what she went through in her short life, too short life.
