At first we were enemies but then the best of lads.
We played fast and hard, both looking for fun
Never aware of the harm that could be done.
Time didn't slow down and the days slipped away

But don't think I didn't care, it wasn't that way.
I just couldn't see it any other way.

But I know there will be another; and that one will be the best.
We will talk and forgive like good friends do.
