STEELE, James William – It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of James Steele (Jimmy/Rem) at his home, in his 67th year, with family by his side, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was an outdoorsman, with infectious laughter, who liked to party and lived life to its fullest. He will be greatly missed by his siblings: Rob, Tom, Mary, Anne, John, Joan and George, and by his many friends, nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his mother Thyra Lorraine Steele (Barker), and father Robert David Steele. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the War Amps as per his request. Arrangements entrusted to the Armstrong Funeral Home.

Uncle Jim will be deeply missed. He definitely laughed and smiled from his soul and I will miss his sense of humour. He was incredibly strong and smart. Until we meet again. Xo Ashley

My heartfelt sympathies to all. Jimmy was an amazing uncle, the absolute best! I valued and admired him in so many ways, he taught me some important life lessons. He made you feel loved and protected. He was always there when I needed him; he’d help with my homework, household repairs, taught me how to fish, drive a boat, drive his old big red van, supported my martial arts interests, he took me to see WWE, spent quality time with us, was easy to talk to, he was encouraging, loved the grey area of life (knew things weren’t always black and white), was a bit of rebel, got Megan extended curfew, told incredible stories, would make me laugh from deep within, he wasn’t shy, he’d sing karaoke at Thanksgiving dinner and always adorn the paper crown, he was strong and smart, and enjoyed a good party and the company of loyal friends and family. I will miss the light in his eyes and his contagious laughter.
