Obituary for Robert William "Bill" Ward

Robert William "Bill" Ward
Robert William (Bill) Ward
December 12, 1938-May 28, 2016
Passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on Saturday, May 28. Loving husband to Marguerite (Margo) Ryan. Brother to Ted (deceased), Joan, Jim and Mary. Survived by Ted’s wife Beth. He will be sadly missed by his children Mike (Angel), Vicky Wilson (Grant), Brian (Frances), Larry (Shanika) and Chris (Melanie), and eleven grandchildren: Laurianne, Jennifer, Alex, Samantha, Thomas, Joshua, Brian, Wendy, Stephen, Amanda and Jackson. Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Evangeline Ward.
Bill was a respected teacher, vice principal and principal for many years with the Catholic School board in Durham Region. He was also a part-time employee of Skican Travel for a number of years. An avid skier, Bill enjoyed many ski trips over the years, often taking along his children and their growing families. Travel, golf, and in earlier days camping were activities that he frequently pursued, and he was always interested and involved in the lives of his children. After raising their family in Oshawa, Bill and Margo moved to cottage country and have resided near Brechin for many years, admiring the view of Lake Simcoe from the front deck.
Visitation will take place at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME (124 King St. E., Oshawa) on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church (2172 Concession Road 4, Brechin) on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery, Brechin.
Sincere thanks to the many health care service providers who enabled us to keep Bill at home. Donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
